| A month after being passed by Parliament, the Right to Education Act is set to be amended to include all categories of differently-abled children in its ambit. The move comes after intervention by the prime minister’s office following protests from disabled rights groups |

| It has been a year since former Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss put his foot down about smoking in public and made it a punishable offence. But, neither has there been an effective ban nor has the awareness programme brought about any significant change among smokers |

Indian forests can support 20,000 tigers: experts
If all of India's tiger terrain was protected very well, including from cattle grazing conflicts from forest dwellers, it could potentially support 20,000 tigers, say some experts. Malini Shankar has more. |
